BLACKPOOL MILL COTTAGE.

This is an image of mine of the famous Blackpool Mill Cottage on the North Devon Coast. It’s a the end of a wonderful walk from Hartland Abbey, but can also be reached along the coast from Hartland Quay. This cottage has appeared in a few films such as the BBC production as Barton Cottage in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, in Rosamund Pilcher’s The Shell Seekers, and the 2016 location for The Lanyon in BBC’s The Night Manager starring Tom Hiddleston.  On warm summer days the pebble beach here is a welcome reward for the walk, there is a cool waterfall to plunge into and rockpools to explore.

Beaufighters over Blackpool Mill.

I haven’t photoshopped any WW2 planes lately but after seeing these on the Imperial War Museum Archive, which came to my attention on Google, I decided on this. The cottage is at Blackpool Beach in North Devon and has been used in many films The Night Manager being the most recent. Below I’ve added some people from a WW2 photo taken during a supplies drop in Holland again referenced off Google Images. Picture of Blackpool Mill cottage is my image.

An acrylic on canvas painting 750mm x 500mm.  If you travel to Hartland Abbey in North Devon you can park and then walk down to Blackpool Beach  it’s a pebbly beach with some wonderful formations and waterfalls.  Near to the beach is a wonderful cottage which used in the films, Sense and Sensibility, The Night Manager and The Shell Seekers.  I particularly liked the midday sun, shadows and tidal pool.  I quite think the distance looks a little sci fi.  Al
