The start of another Biddie Black this time of Greencliff near Abbotsham in North Devon. This is where I obtain my black pigment from the cliff after scrambling over the pebble ridge. This particular day was so warm and I spent a lot of time here sketching and taking photos. I was asked by someone on the beach, was I digging for Bideford Black as they had read about it? I confirmed their suspicion and showed them where It was collected and my black hands as evidence. I love this part of the coastline as it’s very quiet but quite a suntrap, ideal for evening BBQs. Now just a pen and ink sketch down and now for the paint, I’ll be posting stages as I go! Al

I love Bideford Black. I must visit North Devon and see some for myself in the wild 🙂
